Matinloc Island of Palawan
Matinloc Island has a rich history and culture that dates back to prehistoric times. Archaeological evidence suggests that humans have inhabited the area since 2680 BC. The earliest settlers were the Cuyunon people who came from Borneo and traded with China and India. The Spanish colonizers arrived in the 16th century and named the place Bacuit. The Americans took over in the 20th century and renamed it Matinloc.
